12 tags of 2014-July

This was one of my favorite tags that I have created so far by following along with Tim Holtz each month on his 12 tags of 2014 challenge. I absolutly love this new Sizzix die with the sea horse and the bubbles embossing folder. I created this tag with lots of Ranger products and Sizzix dies. I followed Tim's technique with the crackle paint on the sea horses and the paint for the tag background and then got bored and of course had to make it my own and change things up. I'm not good at following directions, I have to do my own things. ;)

Throw nothing out!

I can't tell you how many times I threw out the plastic packaging from my last Sizzix Die purchase and then on recycling day dug it back out of the trash. Deep down I guess I knew that I could create something amazing with it, I just needed the perfect project. I love using my Bigshot machine and Bigz dies with all kinds of different materials. So I decided to play with one of my favorite Tim Holtz Christmas dies, the Tattered Poinsettia, and the clear plastic packaging from my Bigz die. The "Tattered Poinsettia Glass Ornament" is my latest creation to be featured on Ranger Inks website. You can click on the link and learn how you can create this beautiful Christmas ornament with Stickles Dry Fine Glitter and Glossy Accents.

Bring on Spring

Ranger has started a Seasonal Color Palette contest. This month, they've mixed up some great colors that work for both spring and Easter. Here is my submission for this month. There is still time to create a project and submit it. Check out their website for more info. http://rangerink.com/seasonal-palette-march/

The Sizzix die cut of the bunny is first ran through the woodgrain embossing folder and then covered with Vintage Photo crackle paint. The thicker you apply the paint the deeper the cracks will be. You also have to be very patient, this has to air dry. This was hard for me I'm not patient, so I had to put it out of sight out of mind and work on something else other wise I kept sticking my finger in the paint to see if it was dry. I applied Distress inks to the die cut pieces using Rangers Ink Blending tool with the foam applicator pad. Sizzix die cut Eggs are Distress ink in Faded Jeans, Spiced Marmalade and Worn Lipstick. Martha Stewart border punch Grass is Distress ink in Peeled Paint. The Making Memories flowers and Silhouette Bow are Distress ink in Broken China. I always have to have a little bling and a bit of texture, so I added the same colors in Distress stickles.
