Distress Glitter: CC3 Challenge 2. #CC3C

The CC3 Challenge #2 is up and this time it is Distress Glitter. I have to say I'm in LOVE with these glitters. They are like no other glitter out there on the market and come in a wide variety of colors. They are chunky and look like antique crushed glass. You can even ink around the edges with Distress Ink pads and it will take and hold the color.

I created this ATC card using the newest fun products from Tim Hotlz winter CHA releases.

Here is a close up of the Distress Glitter. Don't you just love how chunky it is. When the light hits it, it gives it just enough sparkle with out being overwhelming.

I want to thank Linda Ledbetter for creating these bi-weekley challenges. When I'm overwhelmed with all the stuff I own this challenge is a great way to help me focus on one product and just create and have fun. I also want to thank The Funkie Junkie Boutique for a chance to win a $25 gift certificate.

Distress Paint Marbling: CC3 Challenge 1

While surfing Facebook I discovered a bi-weekly challenge that I taught would be fun to participate in. It's called the Compendium of Curiosities 3 Challenge. This challenge is based on Tim Holtz's new book released at CHA winter. Every other Saturday Linda posts on her blogthe new challenge. You then look up the technique/product in Tim's Book and complete a project that uses that technique/product. Then link your project back onto the challenges post page. I like that you can then click on each one of the projects linked and see all the amazing pieces of art that others have created. There is even a bonus, Inspiration Emporium donated a $50 gift certificate for one lucky random winner of this challenge. So now that you know a little more about cc3, let's get started!

For the CC3 challenge 1, I decided to create a tag using the Distress Paint Marbling technique. I like to practice techniques onto smaller surfaces like tags and then once I have them mastered try them on a larger surface like an Art Journal page. I usually then end up putting the tags into my Art Journal too as embellishments and layers.

I'm totally in LOVE with the new frameworks dies that Tim Holtz released at the winter CHA show. These are an awesome way to use up all of those scrap pieces of paper that you can't find yourself throwing out. When I'm done with a project, I'll run the scraps through my Big Shot machine with one of the frameworks dies and then throw all of the random die cut pieces into a basket to dig in later. All of the embellishments on this tag, were fished out of my scrap basket that I had used previously on an Art Journal page. The frame is die cut from Ranger's Foil Tape. The inserts were die cut from wood paper, sticky back canvas, patterned paper with glossy accents on top, dictionary pages and a scrap embossed paper covered in gesso.

The Queen Bee is from Unity Stamps. I stamp the bee onto watercolor paper with Archival Ink and colored the image in with Distress Markers. For the crown I added a little of Pewter Distress Stain with my water brush and Silver Liquid Pearls on the tips.

Thank you for stopping by and taking a look at my latest creation. Please feel freee to leave a comment.
