To Close Too Home!

My inspiration for this card was, a one heck of a storm that we had here in Missouri on Sunday. The clouds outside my studio were many different shades of swirling blues, greys and black. Yes I said swirling. We did have a confirmed tornado touch down less than a mile away.

I ran the base of the card through my Big Shot using the Postal embossing folder for texture. Then I rubbed Faded Jeans Distress Stain all over the background, varying the pressure to get the light and dark shades of the blue. The entire background is then spritzed with Perfect Pearl Mist and the outer edge is rubbed with Walnut Stain Distress ink. I love to use silhouettes of images, so the Umbrella Man worked perfect for this card. I punched him out of chipboard and painted him with Semi-Gloss Black paint.

Oh Happy Day!

Ranger and Tim Holtz just announced/released their Spring Limited Edition Ink pads.

Peacock Feathers is a lovely, true teal shade, which Distress fans have wanted for quite some time! Squeezed Lemonade is a light, bright, lemon chiffon color completely unlike the existing yellows in the Distress palette. Shaded Lilac is a beautiful purple color, ideal for all of your spring projects.

These amazing colors are a perfect complement to the existing Distress palette, but be sure to scoop up this three-pack of inks while you can, because they are available for a limited time only!

But wait, there's more!

They are also releasing reinkers for all 3, yes I said all 3 total of 9 colors, of their limited edition sets. These will be individual and also so a limited time. So stop by the store and reserve yours today.

What is the Silhouette CAMEO?

The Silhouette CAMEO™ is an electronic cutting tool for personal use. Like a home printer, it plugs into your PC or Mac® with a simple USB cable. However, isntead of printing, the CAMEO uses a small blade to cut your designs into a wide array of materials.

The Silhouette CAMEO™ is amazingly versatile. It can create intricate projects of all sizes form small (1/4" wide) to large (12" wide) and has an unlimited cutting length. It can cut paper, cardstock, vinyl, fabric, and other materials. It operates with or without a cutting mat. When the blade is replaced by a pen, the CAMEO will sketch instead of cut. It can be controlled from a computer or an SD card. With the print and cut feature, the CAMEO also has the ability to cut out designs that have been printed on your home printer.
The CAMEO cuts designs created in the Silhouette Studio® software. This software is free and offers a wide variety of tools and functions to help create custom projects quickly and easily. The Silhouette Studio® software can also manipulate and cut fonts you already have - if a font is installed on your computer, you can use it with the CAMEO.
Designs and shapes can also be purchased ready-made through the Silhouette Online Store. There you will find thousands of designs by talented artists and well-known companies starting at just 99¢ each. Once purchased, designs and shapes are stored permanently in your library and can be used any time. With the Silhouette Online Store you only pay for the shapes you want - no need for expensive cartridges with the CAMEO.

Allow Me to Introduce Myself.

My name is Kourtney Osborn-Vallee. I live in Harrisonville, MO. I have a BSBA degrees from the University of Missouri. 7 years ago my dream of being a business owner came true and I now own my very own store front Scrapbook Store. I have collected memorabilia and been putting it in books since before scrapbooking even had a name. I love the hands on that traditional scrapbooking gives me. There is just something about tearing paper and making my own unique masterpiece.

If someone wrote a book about me, it would be called: Don't stress, "Distress it." I love my Van Dyke brown ink pad. I never pass up the opportunity to distress something. Whether it's inking it brown, tearing or painting. To me it just gives it that finished look.

When I scrap, I always: Love to listen to music. Then I tend to pull out everything I own and lay it all out in front of me. My theory is: If you can't see it, odds are that it won't get used. Out of sight out of mind. I also find that I'm more inspired when I scrap with a group. I like to get a second opinion sometimes.

I can't live without: My kids/pets. My pets brighten my day everyday, even the worst of times. Also my loving and supportive husband of 7 years. Without him I wouldn't have been able to open my store and make all my dreams come true. For some people it's just a business. For me it is more than that. It is my passion and I want to share it with everyone. I love my job and I wouldn't trade it in a million years for a high paying executive job.

Music that inspires me:Jazz and Swing. I play the tenor saxophone and there is just something about jazz and the fast upbeats that just make my fingers dance and then the creative juices start to flow.

With regards to creating, I am inspired by: My surroundings. Everywhere you look there are great color combinations and designs. I always carry a note book in my purse to jot down ideas that I might see in nature, on billboards and in antique stores.
